Using statement art piece for decor

When it comes to decorating, designers use a piece of art or decoration that attracts all the attention of the room as the focal feature. Statement art pieces like a Grecian sculpture, pot, urn, wall hanging etc. can make great focal items in decoration. These pieces help to express what the owner of the place has to state, i. e. express their taste and individuality through their decoration.

If you have your mind set on a statement piece of art, here are some tips for you to make it work in your décor:

Maintain balance

Statement pieces are there to make a bold statement! So if your statement piece is a pottery, don’t use other similar looking pottery, or stuff made of similar material with the piece. Use something that complements the main piece and brings a sense of balance in the room.

Let the piece catch eyes

If you want people to notice your statement art piece, make sure it’s the most conspicuous item in the room or space. For example if it’s a sculpture in a hotel lounge, don’t add other similarly magnificent sculptures in there. Add matching smaller pieces to further accentuate the magnificence of the main piece.

Pick a pedestal

Focal features need a focal point, so pick the focal point cleverly so as to attract attention to a well-lit, good looking part of the room and distract the eyes from flawed parts of the room. Make people see only what you want them to see.

Don’t forget the scale

Scale is very important when it comes to decoration. When you combine and match decoration pieces and furniture, scale is pretty important. Pick sizes for your decoration and furniture that does not interfere with your daily life and comes to some use.

Add your individuality

Adding a dash of your personal style and taste will be a bonus when you decorate your own house or business property. Blend in new and unique ideas with you pre-laid decoration plans to make your decoration truly a reflection of your personality!
