When it comes to maintaining custom glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC) pottery, there are many dos and don’ts that you need to be aware of. Here is our list of dos and don’ts to help make maintaining your custom pottery as easy a process as possible with the best results.
• DON’T use any acid cleaners on any type of GFRC pottery. • DO clean with warm soapy water and make sure to rinse thoroughly after each wash to remove any soapy residue. • DON’T place your pottery near any heat sources, like a heater. • DO apply a protective sealant or clear surface coat over any completed GFRC pottery to ensure it lasts long and maintains its colour and look. • DO reapply a protective sealant or clear surface coat at least once a year to ensure it stays protected over time.
Glass fibre reinforced concrete is a specialised form of concrete with many different applications and uses. From fireplace surrounds and concrete countertops to pottery and custom furniture, there are many differed ways GFRC can be used. One of GFRC’s greatest benefits is its smaller density to concrete. This means it is a more lightweight construction and can be made much thinner. It is also exceptionally strong and flexible which makes it extremely resistant to cracking.
