How To Clean Your Garden Pottery

If you have garden pots and pottery that is looking a little worse for wear, then it’s time to clean them! Here is how to properly clean your garden pottery so that it’s looking fresh and new once more.

Soap And Water

First, you need to give all of your garden pots and pottery a thorough wash down with some soapy water and a washcloth or brush. This will remove most of the stains and grime, including the white powdery substance often found on pottery. This white powder is simply a build-up of minerals and salts, so a nice soapy clean should get rid of this easily.

Sterilise And Disinfect

It’s important to sterilise your pots and planters before replanting. This will remove any residual fungi or bacteria and stop it from being carried over to your next plant. You can do this by soaking your pots and pottery in a diluted bleach solution for a few minutes and then rinsing them with clean water.

Dry And Replant

Let your pots and pottery dry and then go ahead and replant! These steps should have removed all of the dirt and grime so that they look brand new once again, as well as prevent your new plants from any fungi or bacteria that can harm them. So, you are ready to replant healthy and happy plants in your beautiful clean pots.
